Cripple Creek is said to be one of the most haunted
areas in America. It certainly has its share of haunted
casinos! In the 1890’s gold rush days, the area was full
of “soiled doves” or prostitutes. It seems that many of
these women are still haunting the area. Guests at the
Palace Hotel report seeing a woman with a candle wearing
a nightgown roaming the halls. This sighting is reported
quite frequently.
At the Colorado Grande Casino, security guards report
seeing “Maggie” and a gentleman friend playing slot
machines in the early hours of the morning. The security
cameras have even recorded the image of Maggie.
Unfortunately, the tapes have mysteriously disappeared,
much as Maggie does when the security guards run down to
the casino floor to approach her.
On this same street, Bennett Ave, the ghost of a small
girl named Lily is frequently seen. Lily is known to
like balloons, but she is particular. If you leave a
blue balloon around for her, it will mysteriously pop.
But leave a purple one for her, and it will float around
at child level seemingly on its own.
