Okay, so I don't think that there should be much of a discussion about believing here going by the countless pieces of visual evidence, eyewitness accounts, and the obviously ludicrous Roswell cover story, but let's have a simple poll...

I think it would be fascinating to have a close encounter with an alien or ufo....I have seen things that could have been ufo's but I am usually quite skeptical about things that I see and write it off usually as something more explainable. I am still waiting to see something that is DEFINATELY an extra-terrestrial being or craft.

I agree with you that it seems like you want a close encounter so badly, but if it actually happened I imagine that I'd be terrified. I haven't really had any direct UFO sightings but I have studied the phenomenon from books, documentaries, and listening to Coast to Coast. To me, it seems pretty egotistical of us to believe that we're the only ones in such a massive universe. There is so much indirect evidence that they're already visiting us, but you're right that we don't really have the smoking gun yet. Personally, I think that the government plays more than a small role in keeping it that way.
